About Me

I am a filmmaker, performance artist, playwright, and ASL poet. I have been profoundly deaf since infancy, so I cannot hear music. I was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK with Indian Bihari roots (the birthplace of Buddhism). I am a student of Buddhism, with Sufi Islamic leanings.

I write, direct, edit and produce short films which have been screened at film festivals around the world, including Tribeca Cinemas in New York City.

Some of my plays have been read and produced in London's West End, at venues such as Theatre Royal Stratford East, Soho Theatre, and Tristan Bates Theatre. I wrote and published Urdustan, a book of short stories. I plan to write a sequel book, which I am working on at the moment.

Lastly, I do multimedia performance art by using video and poetry, with American Sign Language, dance, and mime.

In 2016, I received a Visionary Awards for Emerging Artist of the Year.  Currently, I live and work in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
